Ok, i really ponder about whatever diets or something.
There are so mant diets in the world, untill lt's like quite alot of ppl are TRYing to lose weight..
While my saving of money has pushed my weight to the brink of being underweight, my friend, whose weight has been steadily climbing to barely less than 5kg more than myself, despite 15cm shorter than myself. For now, she's trying hard to lose weight.cm told her this:breakfast eat the MOST. lunch eat slightly less than most. dinner time, NO carbo. just veg and meat (fibre and protein).A yr back, when i saw her diet assignment, her kcal intake was as much as i need in a day when she needs up to 1600-1700kcal (mine was 2100kcal).
No carbo? Like i said before, as long as your calorie intake is lower than you expend, you will lose weight, regardless from where the kcal came from.(of course cut down your REFINED carbo intake) And pls pls dun allow your calorie intake to fall below 1000kcal or risk losing your muscle mass and BMR. By then, should you stop this kind of diet, you will regain it back twice as fast.

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Although it is even more easier to train due to the release of certain maps, Normal zakum, horntail is no longer challenging as years back.Like for example, imagine a 6man zak(assuming all are 15x), can down it in..like less than 5minutes, when in the past, even a full 30man squad can take 1-2hours to take it down?(Solo-ing of zakum is more common recently)
Normal HT,in the past will need a full 30man squad to bring it down in 2hours.Now, only half the manpower can take it down in...like just 20mins??
Chaos Zakum Helmet now can cost up to 200-400m for unhelmeted ppl,if sold in shop, can be sold up to 1billion mesos (Oh wait, i've been hearing cases that more maplers are buying mesos just for the sake for godly weapons.I did'nt buy any as i almost spent all my money on my taiwan trip -.-).I got it for free thru a czak run,and believe me,if you think normal ht is hard enough, czak is going to be worse. Czak will conatantly drain your mp,dispel your buffs, use hp/mp 1 skill, zombify and seduce(1st 6ppl that entered the altar).Oh,watch out for pot lock!If you got this right after hp/mp 1,pray hard that you won't get hit by its magic attack or you will need to be revived,or use a wheel of fortune.(Note that all czak helms have hidden potentials)
Oh wait, mages and bishops are getting less common as more and more ppl are wanting to play battle mages..oh well, bandwagoning as usual.

I really wish i have this move, called the shadow clone technique from the naruto series. It's a move that makes copies of the user and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed, meaning i will have a easier time multi-tasking in a short period of time..Since the fact that i have more work to do during the 3rd year. When the increasing amount of work was'nt enough, i have FYP to worry about.ANd yh please, for the last time, priorise your work, even you have to sacrifice alot of things!you have plenty of time for this when all of this is over.(Oh wait, will this happen? 3rd year's scheule is very hectic). Dun become like that yifang, who's such a slacker that he have more Ds than i have.
School starts with two fewer ppl in my class. One is jinlee, who went off to Dalian, China for his OIP untill next week.He will be in the same class as the former 2B/02, where most of the ppl down there went off to Dalian(Eg, Yong Chiang,Junwen,Benjamin,Xinni,Charmine,Joel,Iqbal,Yishi,Nada,Jianhui and more).Fewer than 10 ppl like Edward, Weiguang,Janice, Jialin chose not to go and combined class with Verona,Pearlyn and Junice's class. The other, haiyan due to personal reasons, she had to return to china and only can continue her semester only this coming october. And, we are having the same lecture as DFST 3A/ 01 and 03.When my classmates were in the hall, we were surprised...that there are far more gals than guys!
As for now, i have two datasheets, one report( in progress), and a journal to go, two more datasheets to come this week.

As many maplers from maplesea should have known, Big Bang is here!

For those who dunno, it marks a completely new change of the game format and concept. FOr example, new techniques are added to existing classes, exp curve has altered in such a way that it is more easier to level up(It took me less than an hour to lvl from 1-10). Mob's exp and hp also changed. And ant tunnel replaced horned mushrooms with drakes. Bosses like scarlion, give lower dmg. FOr example, last time, during B3, touch damage was 7.1-7.5k. Now like only 3.3k-3.6k, making it easier to down. Mobs like mong(aka dreamy ghost's touch dmg only 300,LOL, Female boss aka Ahma touch dmg also lowered to several thousand hp)
However, during the so called 'Hot event' of having sp reset, on a sat, Asiasoft somehow screwed up, not only keeping us waiting, but was unable to give us a proper explaination, causing unhappiness among the maplers. Asiasoft then changed it to sun,However, it did not prevent masss dc.(Imagine so many players logging in at the same time when the event last only one min??!!) But to our relief, asiasoft decided to give away sp reset scrolls thru a NPC ina event map, allowing us to reset out skill points within 48hours.
Two new jobs, known as the resistance classes, battle mages and some sort of a more powerful bowman riding a panther. It become a more popular class. I have a battle mage but then due to a increasing amount of schoolwork, i only could log in just to do the evolving ring quest, which means i need to log in for an hour before i can upgrade it(If i dc, i need to re-do the quest), all the way to lvl 17 ring. WHen maxed level-ed, this ring will have a impressive stats, having wa and ma 3, all stats +7, hp and mp + 100 or so, acc + dunno how many etc.And to make it better, we can make it to tradeable on 15june, i predicted that those rings can fetch a high price.

-Post Scar run with 6-man, including Chillzer and myself. We took less than 40mins to down it. It's easier than i thought, due to the decreased dmg. For those who dunno who is chillzer, i attended many of her zakum runs two years back and got my first zak helmet because of her.

-DK's buster has increased to 4 hits, and berserk can be used if your hp is above 20%.DKs also have dragon wisdom, can drain mob's hp and increase critical dmg. When i trained in mong, i did not use any hp pots at all. Buster and Fury no longer differentiate pole arm and spear, making life easier for hybrid dks.

Shortly after the celebration of joshua's birthday, ping guang somehow invited me to some church service in bukit timah, along with bryan, alex, samuel and many more. However, when i went there, this church service is got band rock. Can you imagine a church service having a band rock singing christian songs, making most ppl attending this service to dance? This service lasts for 2hours. We usually will go elsewhere to slack after this, then go bukit timah area for dinner. Yesterday, we went to a indian restaurant to have our dinner, and my gosh, they also sell western food products! And the indian curry is really nice. I heard that joshua did alot of stunts back in his camp(something that no one would even dreamt of doing that) and his time in taiwan, making him 'famous' in his camp.Ahh,did he never changed since graduating from ITE after all?
As for Apple (Shi Ting), i've heard that she's suffered from a series of medicial problems, as if her thyroid problems were'nt enough(This caused her BMR to go up to levels exceeding my own), rendering her unable to gain weight and having a miserable BMI of 15, she have clots in her brain, which make her more difficult memorising notes and a spine damaged to a point that she needs a support to keep her back upright.Scary,i better not slouch so much or risk ending up like her.Anyway, i hope her clot problems can be fixed..

Upcoming things to do this coming june holidays
-Class chalet(I need to figure out how to get there and print a copy of the booking document when we checked in. It's in aloha chalet, changi, where i went two years ago. This time, it's a 2day 1 night. I probably wont sleep though.Come on, who sleeps in a chalet all day long?)
-Sending pg off to NS in tekong, at the same time, i'm taking a look how tekong camp is like, as i will be there by next year.
-Study for MST!
-FYP experiments on my sausage products using vacuum packaging and MAP.

Drinks like Coke are widely popular in the world. But as you are drinking a can of coke, does it come across your mind if coke is good for you?And why your parents or grandparents are right about the fact that coke is bad for you.

Why Coke are bad for you

1. A can of Coke contain 40g of sugar, equalling to 10 teaspoons of sugars. imagine this much sugars entering your body. And sugars are bad for health as they often cause a spike in blood sugars, causing more insulin production which instruct the liver to convert the sugars to fat. Over time, the insulin will not work properly, resulting in diabetes(type 2).

A 2007 study from the Harvard School of Public Health (reported in the the American Diabetes Association's 64th scientific sessions) found that Women in the study who drank at least one sugar-sweetened soda a day were 85% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those who drank less. There are18.2 million Americans — 6.3% of the population — with diabetes in 2002, and it is the nation's fifth-deadliest disease, says the American Diabetes Association.

The same study found that the women most prone to gaining weight had increased their consumption of sugary soft drinks from less than one a week to more than one a day. On average, those women gained 9-10 pounds in a four-year period. But women who cut their intake of soft drinks gained an average of 3 pounds or less.

2. Coke contains phosphoric acid, which can compete with the hydrochloric acid in the stomach, resulting in indigestion, bloatness, gas production that causes blurping. As it is acidic in nature, it upsets the acid-base balance in your body, leeching calcium out of your bones in order to main the desired pH of 7.3,leading to bone mass loss and osreoporosis ,meaning your bones can break easily. If you drink a can of coke, you need to drink up to 1L of fresh low-fat milk to replace the calcium that is lost.

3. Coke contains High-fructose-corn-syrup, which is associated with obesity, conary heart diseasese, Metabolic X sydrome and diabetes.

4. Coke contains empty calories. One can(330ml) is approx 160 kcal and can contribute to weight gain.

5. Coke offer a selection of three types of sweeteners, according to the customer's preference. The sweeteners are: Saccharin or Aspartame in the diet type, and sugar or corn syrup in coke. These substances enhance its appeal and come disguised as 'good' for everyone. However, tastes can be deceiving!
SACCHARIN is an artificial sweetener which has raised some concern about cancer in laboratory animals. There are warning labels on containers in which saccharin is an ingredient. ASPARTAME, the more common "diet" sweetener, has been linked to convulsions, depression, insomnia, irritability, weakness, dizziness, headaches, mood changes and mental retardation. SUGAR and CORN SYRUP can induce both HYPOGLYCEMIA (low blood sugar), and HYPERGLYCEMIA (high blood sugar), in susceptible individuals. Hypoglycemia has been linked to mental illness and hyperglycemia to diabetes. Sugar gives you a lift or burst of energy, then sends you crashing down to severe fatigue. To get another charge, more sugary drinks are consumed. This pattern exhausts the adrenal glands and leaves a person with a chronic tired feeling.

6. Many people will think, oh, if i consume diet coke, it will be much better. This is completely wrong. Why?Diet coke's high sodium content helps them retain water in their bodies, and they become edemic. The kidneys and bladder do not function properly after a long habit of soft drink intake. The sugar in it destroys the beneficial flora in the colon and constipation results. This locks the toxins in the body so they cannot be eliminated properly. The blood is not pure, as a result, and the cells are
affected. In order to lose weight, fat must be flushed from the cells. The enzymes responsible for aiding the process of fat release are paralyzed when they are poisoned, and so cannot do their job. People DEFEAT THEIR PURPOSE when they try to lose weight by drinking diet coke

7. Coke contain caffeine, which can cause 'addiction' to the drink and dehydration as caffeine flushs out the water in your body, along with potassium and calcium.

Some time ago,Peggy and i discussed about diet stuff,as she was wondering how could i lose this much weight (12kg in 2months)...

For you reader's info, BMR stands for Basal Metabolic Rate(Also known as metabolism to many people). It is the amount of energy your body will use during rest to ensure function of the vital internal organs such as the liver, heart, lungs, brain kidneys etc.It comprises up to 60-75% of the total body output of your energy(5% from thermic effect of foods, the rest is from your physical activities).

Factors that can raise BMR
-High muscle mass- Muscle use more energy than fats, and are heavier than fats. (One notable example will be chonmun and Jimmy, they have high muscle mass)
-Larger body surface area- Taller people will have a higher BMR( e.g, possibly huiting or weiying's BMR is higher than ppl like huiyi or esther)
-Higher total body weight
-Fever (An increase of 0.5 degree celcius will increase BMR by 7%)
-Smoking(due to nicotine, but DO not smoke just to lose weight as they do more harm than good!)
-Male gender( Guys have a higher BMR than females)
-Exposure to hot or cold temperatures( Your body have to extert a lot of energy to keep the body temperature at 37 degrees)
-You are born with it,by genes (eg. Myself and my sister have a aprox 10-20% higher BMR than other person of same height and weight,as our relatives also have higher-than normal BMR,we are able to lose weight easily but i need to extert abit more effort to gain weight, but the reason why i was overweight during mid 2009-late aug 2010 i will explain later). My approx BMR stands at between 1900-2000kcal,but i still don't dare to eat alot of food and avoided soft drinks, due to fear of regaining the weight that i lost...
-High levels of tyroid activity, which can raise BMR (One notable example will be shi ting, whose BMR is even higher than myself, chon mun, joshua-sp. This explains that she was'nt able to gain any weight, despite eating a boatload of energy dense foods like sweets, biscuits, fast foods)
-Caffeine (A simulatant which can raise BMR)
-Certain medicines

Factors that decrease BMR
-Starvation/Fasting (Which i will explain why fasting/ skipping of meals/fad diets is'nt good for weight loss)
-Aging( as you grow older, you will slowly loss muscle mass, resulting in lower BMR)
-Low activity of thyroid glands
-Certain medicines

To my SP mates-When i first entered SP,i was at the overweight status.I was'nt like that prior to 2009.i became like this as i ate the same way as shi ting, spamming junk food and drinking tons of soft drinks(she hates soft drinks though),resulting in gaining of 12kg in 2years.And i lost the same amount of weight in just 2months,as i simply stopped eating junk food and soft drinks+ excerise and i could maintain my weight, despite eating brownies from time to time due to mini-projects.By then, i concluded that shi ting's metabolism is way higher than mine due to her strangely high activities of thyroid. It was heard that all of the fats, proteins and carbohyrates that is ingested in her body will be metabolized in only 3 hours, making her having to eat every 3hours. You guys may envy her high BMR,but she have side effects that no one wishes to have, like underweight status, low fat %,making her more vulernable to colds than me....

Anyway, some tips on how to lose weight
-Do not skip any meals, especially breakfast!Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as when you just woke up, your BMR is quite slow, and ingestion of food will kickstart your body's BMR.

-Try not to cut your calorie intake too much, as your body will think that it is going to face starvation and will enter starvation mode by lowering BMR by retaining fat and burning muscle mass, something that we won't want to happen. This will result in weight loss due to loss of muscle mass and as soon as you stopped that diet, it is very easy to regain the weight that you shed off.

-Reduce your fat intake by avoid usage of cream, red meats, ghee, mayonnise. Keep your fat intake of not more than 25-30% of total energy calorie intake.

-Excerise! Not only it can help to build muscle mass, exercising involves usage of fats(which only start when you exercise more than 20mins,as fats need time to be broken down to fatty acids and glycerol(which is used to make glucose),transported from the adipose cells(fat cells) to the muscles.Excerise requires alot of energy, increasing calorie deficit.Excerise for 30-60mins for 3-5times a week, along with having a balanced diet and you will see desirable results in a month.

-Count how much calories you are consuming. It is very useful in weight loss as you need to burn 3500kcal more than you consumed to lose a pound of fat (1kg= 2.2pounds)
-Have a balanced diet and not leave any essential nutrients unconsumed! Oh wait.consume more high fibre food like brown rice, vegetables, fruits, beans as they can help you feel full more easily and add bulk, avoiding consumption of junk foods.

-COnsume a small and frequent meals. Believe me, this can keep your BMR high, as your body will have to constantly use energy to digest food. But eat healthy foods like low-fat yoghurt.

-Consume more protein, but do not consume in excess! Proteins require more effort to be digested and absorbed, makes you full for an longer period of time, helps build muscle mass. But an excess can put an strain in your kidneys as they have to work harder to excrete the excess proteins.

-Cut the number of soft drinks, fast food and junk food! eliminate them if you want.Works for me as when i did that, my weight start to fall off quickly.(Wait,i shall explain why soft drinks and fast food are BAD for you later)

-Know why you want to lose weight? Is it because of constant bullying from friends that you are fat , or family history of heart diseases, disabetes, hypertension? This could motivate you to loss weight.

-Consume more fish than red meat. Fish are lower in fat and have poly-unsaturated fat, which lowers risk of conary heart disease.

-Aim for 1-2kg loss per week.Any higher than that, you will lose water mass + muscle mass along with fat mass.(Unless you have higher-than average BMR, or went for a liposuction)

-Cut your sodium intake by not having gravy, reduce usage of soy sauce, cut consumption of canned food, salt into your food, as sodium can result in water rentention

-Choose lean cuts when selecting meats.Peel off the skin as many of the fats can be found in the animal fats.

-Consume food that can raise metabolism like coffee, green tea. They contain caffeine that raise BMR, but too much of them can inhibit iron absorption and certain Vitamin B groups, leading to difficiency of them + a loss of calcium as they tend to draw calcium out of the bones.

Lastly, weight loss is not something that you can achieve in a night. COnsistancy and perservance is the key to success!
